One Room Challenge- Week 3: Let’s talk materials

WEEK 1
WEEK 2

Holy cow, we are on week 3 of the One Room Challenge meaning we are at the halfway point and I am nowhere near done! Even though I know I made progress this week it is not apparent progress!

However I did make all the final decisions on the materials for the room and shared those in my stories throughout the week. I am honored to be partnering with a couple of amazing companies and cannot wait to see them in the space.

I am going to make this week short and sweet because I need to make a run to the hardware store for trim and paint so that this weekend I can hit the ground running.

This is what we had planned for the week:

  • Order all of the final material
  • Pick paint colors
  • Finish building entry cabinets
  • Build doors for the desk and cabinets

What We Did This Week

Order all materials

This week all of the final materials where ordered and have started arriving. Two of the biggest decisions for this space where the flooring which will be installed thorughout the house and the tile that would be used on the fireplace.

I am very pleased to say that we are partnering with Flooret and Fireclay Tile for these two main features in the space.

Flooring

Let’s talk flooring first, we have kids and animals, and when I say animals I mean I have to kick chickens out of my house on the regular. So when making the decision about flooring the durability was just as important as the design. I was thrilled when I came across Flooret to see that not only do they have an amazing selection of colors, but that they have one of the best luxury vinyl floors on the market.

Some key facts that led me to fall in love with Flooret

  • waterproof
  • 40 mil wear layer (WELL above the industry standard)
  • 9″ wide planks
  • amazing customer service
  • embossed-in-register texture
  • a pre-attached underlayment
  • a rigid SPC core

I am grateful to have Flooret as a sponsor for this space and cannot wait to share the floors and the install process with you all.

After going through all of the amazing color choices, ordering full size samples of Soho and Lato we made the choice to go with the Soho color and I literally can not wait to see it in the space.

If you are looking to install new flooring in the future and would like to see samples of the Flooret line use the code “LAZYHAVEN33” at checkout and get 33% off any flooring samples and sizes.

Tile

Next, I needed to make some final decisions on colors for tile, I am a regular stalker of Fireclay Tiles and have been looking to use their tile in our kitchen for the backsplash if I ever get to it. I knew when I decided to tile the fireplace that I had to use them. Once I started talking to them I found out about a new color line that was just released, and you guys! It is perfection!

They just released the new Desert Collection and the colors could not go better with the natural stone on the fireplace. We will be doing a combination of Tumbleweed and Red Rock. I am grateful that Fireclay will be partnering with me on this space, but I have to say this would have been my number 1 choice of tile regardless. You can order your own sample set of the Desert Collection tiles here.

Picking colors

The last task for this week was to make some final color choices for the feature wall and desk cabinets. I have a poll going on right now on my insta stories so feel free to chime in, but these are a few of the colors I am looking at.
