Week 5 of the One Room Challenge was the first time during this challenge I have really felt like I have made a bit of forward progress and I feel like from here on out I should be able to get so much more done! This week we finished the platform for the tent and got all of the materials and tools need to build the deck next week.
The platform wasn’t the only thing we worked on this week, but it was definitely the main thing
This is what we had planned for the week:
Build the platformFill it with pebblesPurchase lumber for deckHold my breath while I pay for said lumberWork on the chest for tent
What We Did This Week
Build the platform
Due to the current prices of lumber instead of building a deck for the tent to sit on we built out a platform and then filled it with small pebbles so that it will still be comfortable but also allow for a lift for the deck to be built off.
After leveling the platform out we filled it up and started planning out the deck space.
A few other things that happened this week
Once the platform was finished I was able to calculate the lumber needed and we went and purchased all of the redwood for the deck. We are using a common redwood which is slightly less expensive and has some variation of color.
I may have also purchased a new tool for the deck build. The miter saw I have had for the last 6 years has finally been retired as I have a new shiny Ridgid miter saw with the portable stand. Sparky approves!
I also started working on a few decor aspects of the campground. I found this amazing old trunk at an estate sales and will be sanding it down and adding a clear coat to finish it off.
I also couldn’t wait any longer to pull out my New Clever Made chairs. I am thrilled to be working with them on this space as they sent me their Tamarack chairs. Even though they are for the campground I decided to set them up in the front yard for a week or two until the fire pit at the campground is ready to go.
