In DIY Projects, One Room Challenge

Spring ORC: Week 8- The Reveal

Well, we made it and just in the knick of time! This challenge was a real challenge! The weather was not helpful and my time was short as I had lots of things going on at once, but we officially have a campground in our front yard and I am thrilled to say that we just spent the weekend putting it to use for our annual Campout Cookout.

This was such a fun space to build and just like the beach area that we built last year I look forward to spending so much time here with family and friends. Glenn was able to put his chainsaws and tractor to work on this project and I think he may have had as much fun doing this challenge as I did.

This space was built to be a Lazy Haven (see what I did there) for our family and a place to welcome friend and family when they come to visit. I built a base and partial wrap around deck with the help of my new deck jig from Kreg Tools.

Even though I may or may not have had to sell my left kidney to pay for the redwood lumber for this deck, it was 100% worth it. Also, I am fully obsessed with the tamarack chairs from Clever Made, they are the perfect mix of portable and comfortable with all the style.

I also challenged myself with a fun build making this folding camp table using my Kreg pocket hole jig. It folds flat and is going to be used for not only this campground but on our many camp trips this year.

Of course, the centerpiece of the entire campground was our new 5-meter bell tent from Psyclone tents. This beauty is massive and so easy to put up. We plan to keep the tent up all summer and then will pack her away for the winters, even though she could probably withstand the winter as well.

I had so much fun decorating the interior of the tent. Even though it can hold 3 full-size beds, I decided to go with two and used pop-up tent beds that can also be easily stored or travel with us on camp trips. I finished off the tent with a new jute rug from Rugs USA and I love its natural look, but since it is a mix of jute and wool it’s a bit softer than any other jute rug I have owned.

Wrapping it up

This has been a crazy 8 weeks but I wouldnt change it for anything. I though that the Spring One Room Challenge was a challenge but this go around I pushed myself to learn new skills and perfect old ones.

I met so many amazing new friends and found inspiration from other challenge participants. Make sure to check out all of the amazing reveals from the other designers who participated here.

Last but definitely not least, I owe a HUGE thank you to my amazing sponsors for this space. It was such a pleasure to work with them all.
